CHARLESTON, S.C. –June 20, 2014—For their first public event, the Charleston Brown Water Society partners with the Charleston City Paper to host the 2014 SC-TX BBQ Invitational on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Holy City Brewery (4155 Dorchester Road). For the event, the non-profit society brings two BBQ legends to the area—John Lewis of La Barbecue in Austin, TX and Rodney Scott of Scott’s Bar-B-Que in Hemingway, SC. Together the two will cook whole hog Certified Angus Beef® Prime Brisket, Beef Ribs, and Sausage. Alongside will be local Gullah chef BJ Dennis who will serve sides. Coming together with the BBQ and fixings, will be a variety of beverages including beer from Holy City Brewery and Shiner Bock, King of Pops and spirits from 6 & 20 Distillery in Piedmont, SC and local distilleries Charleston Distillery, High Wire Distilling Co. and Stripped Pig Distillery. The event begins at 3:00PM and costs $50 per person. You must be 21 and older to attend this event.
